Staying at the Hôtel du Col de Crous is also a chance to take your time discovering Péone and the landscapes around it: a medieval village, hikes, the Valberg resort, heritage, mountain activities… plenty to fill your days – or to plan nothing at all.
Start by simply stepping out of the hotel. Péone’s narrow lanes, its church, its little squares and its impressive rock spires are all part of the scenery.
The village has a heritage trail that takes in the Rue du Four, the Goulet de l’Orfèvre passage, the Chapel of the White Penitents and the Saint-Vincent and Saint-Arige church. The loop is around 500 to 600 metres long and takes about an hour.

Péone is around 9 km from Valberg, so you can easily enjoy the resort while staying somewhere quieter.
Skiing in winter, hiking and outdoor activities in summer, spring walks, autumn colours… Valberg can be enjoyed all year round, with a regular programme of events and activities.
Here, you don’t need the car to find beautiful trails. Some hikes start practically outside the hotel.
For example, the hike up to the Tête de Méric starts from Péone’s main car park. The summit offers a panoramic view over several Mercantour massifs and all the way to the Gorges de Daluis.

Skiing and snow activities in Valberg, then back to the calm of Péone.
Walks, nature coming back to life and milder temperatures.
Hikes, outdoor activities, village festivals and long days outside.
Mountain colours, quieter walks and cosy evenings indoors once again.
Péone is also a village that keeps its traditions very much alive.
The Saint-Vincent patron saint’s festival traditionally takes place at the end of August, with morning serenades, fifes and drums, high mass and a tasting of agnocous, a local Péone speciality.
